“I want nothing at all, if it ain’t you, baby”

Tania + Michelle met 10 years ago at Parramatta Junior Rugby League football match. Michelle was the club secretary at the time. Tania was commencing her first day of work there as a sports trainer and was told to look for a short blonde girl wearing a green vest (Michelle). When Tania arrived to the ground, she saw a crazy woman driving around on a golf cart, picking up an injured player from the field like she was in a NASCAR race. The golf cart stopped in the vicinity of the managers desk where Tania was waiting. Michelle got off very irate at the injured player who had been playing hungover. Tania introduced herself and said she was there to do first aid. Michelle’s first words to Tania were “Great, there’s the first aid kit, there’s the vest don’t go on the field unless your called for and don’t bug me unless its urgent as I am busy!”. Tania’s first impression was, ‘What a bitch!’ but it kicked off their friendship and three years later, it developed into a relationship

They were engaged in September, 2020. Before the big day, Tania had arranged with family and close friends to take photos with signs of the words, ‘Michelle will you grow old with me, Michelle will you marry me?’ On the day she arranged for two friends to go the rocks just down from the Flagstaff Hill Lighthouse and stick the signs on a rock.

Through the week Tania had asked Michelle if she would like to go for a drive to Wollongong for a gelato and listen to the waves. It was one of their favourite places so it wasn’t likely to trigger any suspicions from Michelle. When they arrived they did their usual walk. Unbeknown to Tania, their friends set up the site on the opposite side of where they were supposed to and Tania had to convince Michelle to go for a walk on the other side. Michelle didn’t want to, there was a massive puddle in the way and they had to climb stairs and walk through the sand and Michelle kept complaining and getting impatient.

Michelle who was in front of Tania walked straight passed the rock with all the signs stuck to them and then started yelling back to Tania “How the hell are we supposed to get around now as we are back at the same puddle but on the other side”. Tania called Michelle back and said “oh wow Michelle look at this”. As Michelle approached the rock she realised it had pictures of their family and friends holding up the signs. Whilst Michelle was reading them Tania stood behind her and got down on one knee holding a ring. Michelle turned around and Tania then asked Michelle to marry her. Michelle started to cry and immediately said yes!

Two years later and Michelle + Tania went back to Flagstaff Hill Lighthouse, this time to say their marriage vows. They had a happy entourage of friends and family in their bridal party and we went on a location shoot around Wollongong before celebrating with their nearest and dearest at City Beach.
