“This is what we came here for, we came here for love”
Nic + Alison met on social media when Nic’s best friend encouraged him to message Alison after he saw her picture on Facebook. This was right before the COVID lockdown and they were unable to get to their first date as all restaurants were closed. They realised they lived 2 minutes from each other and so began daily walks for the next 3 months as they got to know each other.
By August 2021, they had an engagement ring designed from Lauren B Jewellery in New York! While Alison knew it would take 6-8 weeks to arrive, she was anticipating the proposal any moment and Nic did a good job of planning lots of beach walks and romantic dinners to keep her guessing,. On Sat 5 February 2022, Nic planned a dinner before soccer season started and Alison was none the wiser. Meanwhile Alison’s sister was in on the proposal and suggested they go to Wendy’s Secret Garden in Lavender Bay before dinner to see the view which Alison thought sounded fun. Alison says:
“Nic was so calm and relaxed I had no suspicion about what was going to happen that night. Once we arrived at the Garden, Nic took me around and made it seem that we were both just naturally exploring the grounds, when actually Nic and my sister had mapped out exactly what path to walk through to then lead to our proposal spot. Once we walked through the heart of the garden and got to the top that overlooked the Sydney Harbour Bridge Nic asked me to close my eyes as he had gotten me a small gift. I then nervously asked if he had gotten a puppy, he then laughed and said no. With my eyes closed I could some ruffling and the sound of a camera, Nic then told me to open my eyes. He was on one knee, ring in hand and a photographer capturing every moment. It was such a beautifully intimate moment and it felt like it was just Nic and I in that moment”.
They then enjoyed a mini photoshoot and when they arrived at the restaurant for dinner, Alison was shocked to see their families and closest friends there to celebrate their engagement.
Nic + Alison were excited to plan and celebrate their wedding day, including seeing each other for the first time down the aisle. They had a beautiful ceremony at Miramare Gardens in Terry Hills. Following the Ceremony, we took our bridal party for a photoshoot around the grounds of Miramare Gardens.
