“But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight”

Stephen + Irene meet in 2011 through Facebook and would spend hours on the phone together. After a few months of talking they decided to meet up in person and the rest is history.

In 2019, Steven decided to propose on the balcony of Irene’s home. He invited Irene’s mum to lunch to ask for her hand in marriage before taking her to see the ring that he was getting made. Steven told Irene that he received tickets to a surprise event and that she had to dress up. The day of the proposal Irene went to her dad’s house for lunch while Steven and his best man decorated the balcony with tea lights and flowers. Steven also organised a violinist and cello player to play both ‘All of Me’ and ‘Ave Maria’ during the proposal. Little did Irene know that her mum, two best friends and Steven’s best friend were watching from Irene’s bedroom window. It was definitely a special moment.

Steven + Irene were unfortunately one of our couples who had to postpone their wedding when the 2021 lockdowns came around – and they had already waited 2 years since the proposal! So it was with much anticipation that they finally said their vows and became husband + wife at the Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Kogarah in February 2022. Their joy at the alter as they were announced husband + wife was everything they had waited so patiently for!

Our team, led by Stephen Kadlec, took our bridal party for photos around the State Library and Hyde Park before a beautiful reception at Sydney wedding venue, Linseed House, part of the famed Grounds of Alexandria.
