“All that you are is all that I’ll ever need”

It’s not the first time we’ve photographed Stjepan + Hermina as partners at a wedding! Let us explain.

Hermina is friends with Stjepan’s sisters. They had met once at a New Years party and Hermina thought Stjep was hilarious. They hadn’t seen each other for a while but were both invited in a group to check out Parramatta Lanes festival. Stjepan tried his hardest to get time alone with Hermina and managed to succeed when they grabbed a burger from a different stand to everyone else. Both – oblivious to one another – started to develop a crush. Soon after, Stjepan’s sister was getting married and they were paired together in the bridal party and that’s where we met them for the first time!

After the wedding, they kept in touch and went on their first date. It was the last ‘first date’ for the two of them as it was meant to be! Four years later and they were on a holiday together when Stjep realised he was ready to get the ball rolling on their future. He went looking for the ring on the day they got back. In Stjepan + Hermina’s words, this is what happened next:

“We went out to Rose Bay and had a pretty relaxed lunch and just wandered around for a bit. Stjep was waiting for sunset. So, as we get to the spot he had picked out, he realised we didn’t have any wine. We rushed around from closed bottle shop to closed bottle shop until we found one that was open. We quickly grabbed some wine and headed back to the spot. Stjep parked the car, grabbed out his camera gear and we started walking to the spot when Hermina stopped and said ‘I need to pee’. Stjep was close to losing his mind (sunset was approaching), but remained calm after realising Hermina had no idea what was going on. We found a bathroom a short walk away, but then had to walk away. Sunset is quickly approaching. We go back to the car to grab Stjep’s camera gear and head back down to the spot with a view of the Harbour. We set up a picnic blanket, poured some wine and Stjep set up his camera ‘to take photos of the harbour’. He then suggested we take a photo together and told Hermina where to stand. Hermina thought ‘great, finally Stjep wants to be in a photo’, but Stjep just
walked up to her as the camera snapped away, got down on one knee, forgot all the nice words he wanted to say and blurted out ‘Will you marry me?’. Hermina was in shock, but Stjep got the yes and here we are!”

Stjep + Hermina exchanged their vows at St Nikola Tavelic Church in St Johns Park. Following the ceremony, we took our bridal party for their location shoot around The Rocks before we celebrated with a reception at Doltone House Sylvania Waters where our bride + groom partied the night away, surrounded by love.
